The People’s Church of Potter Brook exists to glorify God by making His name great in our church, our community, and around the world. The primary way of accomplishing that purpose is through preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and by making disciples of all who believe in Him. Here are some of the avenues that we use to actively pursue our purpose.
Whether a weekly Bible study or annual event, these ministries exist to provide opportunities for Christians to grow in their walk with God and with one another.
Sunday School – This class meets every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the auditorium. Currently, this class is working through the Effective Bible Study curriculum series published by Regular Baptist Press.
Men’s Prayer Breakfast – All men are welcome to meet for breakfast and prayer Monday mornings at 6:30 at the Restaurant in Westfield.
Music Ministries – Godly, Christ-exalting music is a priority at our church. Members are encouraged to participate in choir, special music, accompanists, and to serve at our bi-monthly Praise and Praises service.
Volleyball – For several years, folks in our church have organized and led a spring and fall co-ed volleyball league. During the season, games are played on selected evenings at 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Harrison Valley Gym.
Special Events – Several other events are scheduled throughout the year such as special picnics, church work days, bowling, day trips, and more.
Young Adults and Teens – Throughout the year, young adults and teens participate in a variety of activities such as community service projects, help in the ministries of the church, game nights, youth retreats, Operation Christmas Child, and more.
Our children’s ministry exists to serve families by providing age-appropriate Bible teaching and discipleship to children of all ages. Through the various weekly and periodic ministries, children are taught big truths about God and how those truths apply to their lives.
Sunday School – Children ages 3 through 12 are invited to our children’s Sunday School classes. These classes include the teaching of Bible lessons, Scripture memorization, singing, crafts, and activities. We use Regular Baptist Press curriculum for all classes.
Junior Church – Children in kindergarten through 3rd grade are welcome to attend Junior Church. This is an age-appropriate service that runs concurrently to the preaching portion of the a.m. worship service. Just like the Sunday School classes, Junior Church is taught by members of our church utilizing curriculum from Regular Baptist Press.
Vacation Bible School – This week long children’s ministry occurs every July for children going into kindergarten through 6th grade. At VBS, children learn Bible songs, memorize Bible verses, play age-appropriate games, enjoy snacks, and hear careful Bible teaching just for them. This ministry is led by members of our church.
Our nursery exists to provide a safe and loving environment for all little ones so that parents and families can participate in the worship services without distraction. In the nursery, children will be cared for, watched over, and helped as needed. Our nursery is available for children from birth to pre-school.
Drop Off – Parents or guardians may drop off their children at the nursery door any time after the nursery workers are present in the room. Our nursery workers arrive 15 minutes before the schedule service time.
Pick Up – Children ought to be picked up by the parents or guardian who dropped them off at the nursery door. Parents or guardians should come to pick up their children immediately following the conclusion of the service.
Nursery Staff – Our nursery is staffed by a Nursery Director and various volunteers of our church. Each volunteer is a member of the church and has fulfilled all required background checks authorized by the State of Pennsylvania.
Health Policy – We desire for our nursery to be a safe and protected place for children; therefore, please do not bring your child to the nursery if they have any of the following symptoms or illness: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, symptoms of childhood disease, unexplained rash, infection, head lice, or any other communicable illness. If your child is currently being treated for any of these symptoms medicinally, please confirm that they have been on the antibiotics / medicine for at least 24 hours.
