WHAT WE BELIEVE
The following is an abbreviated version of our church’s Statement of Faith. If you would like to find out more about our doctrinal beliefs, please contact the church office.
The Scriptures – We believe in the full verbal inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible. God’s Word is the final and absolute authority for all matters of faith and practice.
God – We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Creation – We believe that God created all things out of nothing, including the human race which was created uniquely in the image of God. In creation, God defined the value of human life (from conception to natural death) and God created and defined marriage (a covenant between one man and one woman for a lifetime).
The Fall and Sin – We believe that when Adam sinned in the garden, the human race fell under the curse of sin. Therefore, all people are born with a sin nature, under the wrath of God, and completely unable to save themselves from the curse of sin.
Jesus and Salvation – We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the eternal Son of God. Through His incarnation, vicarious substitutionary sacrifice on the cross, and resurrection from the dead, Jesus secured salvation for all who will come to Him by faith and repentance. Salvation is a free gift to man by God’s grace, received by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. Anyone who calls on the name of Jesus Christ unto salvation will be saved.
The Holy Spirit – We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third member of the Holy Trinity. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He is the agent in regeneration. He baptizes; that is, adopts, all genuine believers into the family of God, permanently indwelling and sealing them for eternity.
Sanctification – We believe that born-again believers must also be growing believers; that is, being progressively changed into the image of Jesus Christ through the ongoing gracious work of God in their lives through the Scriptures. No believer will reach sinless perfection until glorification in heaven.
The Church – We believe that all born-again believers are part of the body of Christ, or the church universal. We believe the local church is a congregation of baptized believers, joined together in membership by a covenant of faith, led by Scripturally qualified pastors and deacons, centered on the teaching of the Bible and specifically the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and practicing the ordinances of baptism and communion. The local church’s responsibility is to fulfill the Great Commission, practice the one-another statements of the New Testament, and remain faithful to Jesus Christ and His Word.
Satan – We believe that Satan is a created being, the author of sin, the open and declared enemy of God, and that he shall be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire.
The Resurrection – We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; the everlasting blessedness of the saved; and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
The Return of Christ – We believe in the personal and bodily return of Jesus Christ at an appointed future time, known only by God the Father.
